New Delhi: A mob in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh ransacked the recently launched Delhi-Mumbai Garib Rath - a train that will provide affordable air-conditioned service to long-distance travellers.
A mob of people got onto the train when it stopped over at Ratlam and beat up the Railway staff.
Their grouse - they alleged that whenever a new project like the Garib Rath was begun, they don't get their share of jobs that it generates.
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had flagged off the 'Garib Rath' between Delhi and Mumbai on Thursday from the Nizamuddin Railway Station. The tri-weekly Hazrat Nizamuddin-Bandra Terminus Garib Rath Express is the fourth of its kind.
The journey in three-tier air-conditioned coach of the train will cost Rs 667, which is almost 40 per cent less than the AC fare of other trains. Ticket in its AC chair car will be Rs 552.
The train will leave Nizamuddin on every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while it will start from Bandra Terminus on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The AC sleeper coach of the train has the capacity of 75 berths instead of the usual 64 and the chair car has a capacity of 102 seats.
