MoUs with auto majors soon: Jaya

CHENNAI: CM J Jayalalithaa has vowed to make Chennai the global leader in automobile and components manufacturing and said Tamil Nadu will soon sign MoUs with a several companies,  including vehicle and component manufacturers.After opening the Daimler Commercial Vehicles Plant at Oragadam on Wednesday, she said Chennai has emerged as India’s largest automobile,  auto components manufacturing and export hub. “Chennai is now emerging as a top 10 global automobile manufacturing centre and it will have... capacity to make 1.3 million cars and about 3.6 lakh commercial vehicles each year. This translates to an output of 3 cars every minute and one commercial vehicle every 75 seconds,” she said.
