BANGALORE: Inspector General of Police Pratap Reddy, who was earlier transferred as Mysore Police Comissioner, has been shunted to the fire department for no reason.Reddy, who was the senior director of NASSCOM’s Cyber Lab Project, was on deputation from the police department. He was responsible for managing cyber labs of Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Thane City Police, Karnataka and and Andhra Pradesh CID, Chennai and Haryana Police Academies. Due to this, he was asked to return to the police department and was posted as Mysore Police Commissioner, succeding Sunil Agarwal — who faces the charge of constructing a house illegally. Agarwal was also accused of transporting policemen from Mysore to Bangalore by violating rules; his transfer order was cancelled by a Mysore-based politician, ostensibly for maintaining law and order during Dasara. Sources said Reddy requested the government to at least cancel his transfer order. After one month, he has been transferred to the fire force. A DGP rank officer told Express on condition of anonymity that such actions will affect the morale of the officers. Reddy, however, was unavailable for comment.
