Kohima: Senior Congress leader and union minister Vayalar Ravi on Thursday stressed on the need to shun internal bickering and strengthen the Nagaland unit of the party in order to bring it back to power in the state. Ravi appreciated the "sincere confession" made by NPCC chief S I Jamir and Congress Legislature Party leader Tokheho Yepthomi that the main reason for Congress' debacle in the last three assembly elections was disunity of state leaders.
"Therefore, we should stop all differences and unitedly fight the corrupt practices of the present Naga People's Front government in the state," said the Overseas Indian Affairs Minister. He was speaking at a Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) meeting attended by AICC general secretary in-charge of Nagaland, Luijinho Faleiro.
Congress should go to the people and stand by them for their cause and issues, he said, adding that the party should convince people that this government was a "complete failure" despite getting sufficient funds from the Congress led-UPA government at the Centre.
Faleiro in his speech said the state Congress should work towards creating awareness on the 16 flagship programme of the Centre. He also alleged during the February 2013 state elections, several NPF candidates were caught red-handed with
crores of money, arms and ammunition.
