BANGALORE: The state government has pulled the curtains down on the controversy over the appointment of the state police chief by appointing Neelam Achuta Rao as regular Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP).A 1976 batch IPS offficer Rao will take succeed S T Ramesh, who is currently heading the post on a temporary basis since February this year.Hailing from West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Rao held several key posts, including Bangalore police commissioner, and is currently holding the DGP- CID post.The state government was against deputing IPS officer D V Guruprasad as DG&IGP.
