Nepal tragedy: Body to come home Monday

CHENNAI: The body of Florence Angel, a final year master’s student of social work who died during a college trip to Nepal, will be flown here on Monday night.Accompanying the body will be the rest of the 46-member team from the Mar Gregorios Arts and Science College, Mogappair, who had gone to Nepal on October 12. Tragedy had struck when the students thronged a suspended bridge and it collapsed under their weight. The fall killed Florence in­stan­tly; her classmate Hamida G Momin of Meghalaya was washed away. Nine students were injured, three critically.Talking to reporters, colle­ge principal P Prakasam on Sunday said Florence’s body  and the students were scheduled to be brought back by chartered flight on Sunday night, but the plan was dropped due to inclement weather. The team will now arrive here on Monday night via Delhi.
