HYDERABAD: The Government Area Hospital at Malakpet is back in the news again with a newborn male baby kidnapped by a burqaclad woman on Saturday evening. Recently, the nurses at the hospital swapped two justborn infants leading to a hue and cry. According to the police, a woman from Yakutpura, Mehboob Begum, was admitted to the hospital on Friday evening after she started suffering from labour pains. She was immediately shifted to the operation theatre on the first floor where she delivered a male baby in the early hours of Saturday. With the condition of the woman and her son stable, they were shifted to the maternity ward after a few hours.
In the maternity ward, a burqaclad woman approached Mehboob and introduced herself as Shajahan and claimed that her motherinlaw was also admitted to the hospital. Before leaving, she played with the infant. "She also praised the looks of my boy," Mehboob recalled while narrating the incident to the police. The woman was again seen in the afternoon by Mehboob's mother, Rabia Bee, who was attending on her daughter. "When Rabia Bee saw the woman she was talking over mobile phone and left the place in a hurry after a few minutes," police said.
