The frequent experiments with the billing process in the city have not only left the discom officials sweating but have also made the consumers suffer.
After the experiments of on-the-spot billing in 2011-2012 and taking photos of meter reading by mobile phone in 2012, the recent experiment to print photo of meters on the bills have only left a hole in consumers’ pocket who now have to deposit bills for three months at one go.
It has now been decided that HCL will be preparing software to calculate the bills of consumers so as to be compatible with the new any-time machines (ATMs) that will help deposit electricity bills. After HCL prepares the software, the making of the bills will be done by another company which is currently doing the work of billing and the same agency will issue the bills.
