As many as 13 NGOs came together and announced the formation of an "agitation committee" to protest the Jaipur Development Authority's (JDA) decision to seal the Rajasthan Samagra Seva Sangh premises.
The committee would fight to get the land belonging to Rajasthan Samagra Seva Sangh (RSSS) back, social and political activist Aruna Roy said today in a press conference here.
The agitation committee would soon organise a "jansunwai" (public hearing), a conference of people removed from the premises and also invite officials of JDA to the event, Roy said.
The committee would be comprised conveners of People's Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL), Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS), Centre for Dalit Rights, All India Democratic Women's Association, RSSS, and Radha Kant would be its state convener, Roy said.
Roy further alleged that the new BJP government in Rajasthan has deliberately attacked the RSSS under a conspiracy to curb the voice of NGOs. "The Rajasthan government has mala fide intentions to attack not only the RSSS, but all those NGOs who used to raise their voices against government's decisions," Roy said.
Attacking the Raje government, Roy said that her government was acting against food security policy, MNREGA, and the interests of minorities and women. Present on the occasion, Centre for Dalit Rights Convener PL Mimmorath flayed the Intelligence Bureau report on NGOs, and said the Modi government was working against the NGOs based on the IB report that blamed NGOs of receiving foreign funds and working against India's economic interests.
RSSS convener Sawai Singh said famous Gandhian freedom fighter Gokul Bhai Bhatt's Samadhi, which was founded by JP Narayan, was also sealed by the JDA. He alleged the premises were sealed by the JDA to convert this land into real estate use, as it is in the prime area, next door to the Airport and Jawahar Circle on JLN Marg.
JDA had sealed the RSSS premises, a Gandhian institution on June 7 and forced the residents to vacate the place.
