New Delhi: No evidence of rape has been established against any police personnel during the Nandigram violence, Chief Secretary A K Deb said on Wednesday.
Quoting reports of East Midnapore Superintendent of Police G A Srinivas and Tamluk hospital Medical Officer Benoy Krishna Roy, the top West Bengal official that there was no evidence of rape as alleged by a woman in Nandigram.
Deb added that inquiry was still continuing into the matterbut both the CID and the Executive inquiries were being delayed due to the current situation in Nandigram and the dug up roads.
Meanwhile, Home Secretary P R Roy said the administration would make another move to organise another all-party meeting to restore peace at Nandigram.
A meeting scheduled for Tuesday failed to take off when local leaders and activists of BJP vandalised furniture at the BDO's office, the venue, and raised anti-government slogans.
As many as 14 people were killed in an incident last month, of police firing on protesters, who had opposed the SEZ project in Nandigram on March 14.
The West Bengal Government ultimately scrapped the chemical hub project in Nandigram and announced its decision to relocate the same to a new place.
