CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to notify the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in the Gazette of India and place the Cauvery Management Board in position immediately, notwithstanding the pendency of the civil appeals and reference petitions and without prejudice to the outcome of these petitions in the Supreme Court and the Tribunal.“It is incumbent on the Government of India to notify the final order of the Tribunal in its gazette so that it becomes effective and binding on the parties to the dispute and a mechanism for the implementation of the order to be established,” the CM said in her letter to the PM. She held discussions with senior Cabinet colleagues, officials and lawyers on the stand to be taken when the petition on the final order of the tribunal filed by Tamil Nadu comes up for hearing on October 18 in the Supreme Court. It was filed on July 25.
