Actor-politician and known Advani loyalist, Shatrughan Sinha, on Thursday, thanked the BJP for honouring his wish to contest the poll from his native Patna Saheb instead of Delhi, and said, now onwards his only aim was to make "action hero" Narendra Modi the Prime Minister.
"I was asked about fighting Lok Sabha election from Delhi but I told the leadership that native Patna Saheb is my first, second and last choice," Sinha told reporters at BJP office in Patna on reaching from the national capital.
Sinha, whose name was announced only in the second lot apparently due to controversy over the Patna Saheb seat, said he has no problem in contesting from Delhi but "I urged the party since Patna Saheb is my birth place and has given me the name, I will not like to go anywhere else."
"I thank the party for honouring my wish," Sinha, popularly known as Shotgun and "Bihari Babu", said.
It is understood that senior party leader Ravishankar Prasad wanted to contest from Patna Saheb which is also his native place.
Sinha, sitting Lok Sabha member from Patna Saheb, had to face protest from some workers of youth BJP on way to party office from Patna Airport. Supporters of Sinha however, resisted the protesters.
The actor-turned BJP leader denied anti-incumbency against him which could mar his chances.
Sinha, a disciple of veteran BJP leader L K Advani and who has in the past triggered controversy by opposing Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, said he would like all old controversies to die down.
"Now onwards my only aim like mythical Arjuna who focuses only on the eyes of moving fish is to make action hero (Narendra Modi) Prime Minister of the country," he said.
Skirting a question about L K Advani's anger at contesting from Gandhinagar, he said, "Advaniji is an elderly statesman who has always guided the party...there is no question of anger of such an experienced leader."
He rubbished any factionalism in the BJP and said his visit to the party office was to end "any such speculations".
Sinha, accompanied by local MLAs Nitin Navin and Arun Kumar Sinha, said he would file nomination for Patna Saheb seat on Friday. His actress wife Poonam Sinha and actor son Luv Sinha accompanied him to the BJP office.
Sinha, who would be facing ex-Bihar minister turned Aam Admi Party leader Parveen Amanullah and Gopal Prasad Sinha of Nitish Kumar's JD(U) in Patna Saheb, claimed BJP would produce "unprecedented" results in Bihar in the general elections
