In
what appears to be a successful culmination of efforts made for the alliance
between Nair Service Society and Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, the meeting
of the NSS director board held on Monday at its headquarters at Perunna, unanimously
endorsed the policy draft jointly issued by NSS general secretary G Sukumaran
Nair and SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan.
Sukumaran Nair told Express that the alliance between the two powerful organisations
in the state is not against the government. In fact, it is to draw the
attention of the incumbent administrators’ negligence towards the majority
communities and to act as a corrective pressure group to achieve the rights of
majority people.“We
have made this move to stand firm against the erring policies of the government
towards the majority communities. We do not intend to bring down the government.
We are not against any community or groups. We were forced to form an alliance
when the UDF government took a discriminatory stand towards the majority
community,” he said.When
asked about the unexpected meeting with Vellappally, the NSS general secretary
said that it was a preliminary meeting to discuss the policy draft on alliance,
which was planned.
“In fact, what we planned was a meeting between the general secretaries of both
the organisations and a detailed discussion. However, we could make an acceptable
policy draft in the first meeting itself. When the meeting ended successfully,
we decided to issue a joint policy draft on Monday itself. The draft was
developed after a detailed discussion,” he said.
Sukumaran Nair promised all possible compromises for the successful working of
the alliance. “We will pay utmost care for it. The differences in voices will be resolved
through discussions,” he said.The
NSS general secretary said that the contention with the government still
persists even after Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, KPCC president Ramesh
Chennithala and Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan held talks with the
NSS leadership a few days ago.
