Nurses to approach Rights panel

KOCHI: Against the alleged move by the Lakeshore Hospital management to terminate the contracts of nurses working under probation, the nurses’ association, on Thursday, decided to approach the National Human Rights Commission.The association will file a complaint with the commission on Friday, said United Nurses Association district vice-president Mohammed Unais.In fact, a complaint has been placed with the commission on February 26, alleging that the management was harassing the nurses. “The management had said that the contracts of a large number of nurses, who were working as probationary staff members for the last 2-3 years, will be terminated,” he said.He said it is distressing that the nurses would become jobless and their families would be left in the lurch all of a sudden.
