New Delhi: The Oversight Committee, which was entrusted with the task of preparing a roadmap for the implementation of 27 per cent OBC reservation in elite educational institutions, submitted its interim report to the government on Monday.
The interim report, which was prepared to facilitate the government to undertake advance planning for the implementation, prescribes setting up of an empowered committee for each of the institutions.
Recommendation of these empowered committees will be put forward in the final report that is scheduled to be submitted to the Prime Minister on August 31.
In the report, the Committee has also put forward its requirements as to how it will implement the 27 per cent reservation.
The committee drafted the interim report on the basis of the reports of the five sub-groups which went into topics like technological and engineering institutions, management institutions, central universities, medical and agricultural institutes.
The Committee would submit a Detailed Project Report on the issue of reservation on July 31.
Earlier, Committee Chairman Veerappa Moily had assured that the Committee's recommendations would be inkeeping with the interest of the general category students. would also protect the brand equity of the institutions.
