Bhubaneswar: The Income Tax Department has opened an Airport Intelligence Unit here at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, which is functioning in all working days to keep a close watch on movement of undisclosed cash during election time, official sources said.
In view of the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections the Investigation Directorate of the I-T Department, Odisha region, has taken various measures to curb the use of black money.
Separate offices have been set up in each district under the Directorate for monitoring expenditure of candidates and movement of cash, drug, liquor and others during this period, they said.
A round the clock control room and complaint monitoring cell have started functioning from the Aayakar Bhawan annexe Building (at Rajaswa Vihar, Bhubaneswar). A toll-free no 1800-345-6114 has also been made operational in
this regard.
Special teams have also been formed for keeping surveillance and gathering of intelligence regarding movement and use of undisclosed cash during this period, they said.
