Heritage City Puri is being decorated for the inauguration ceremony of the Shrimandir Parikrama project. Devotees will enter Odisha’s Puri city through Shree Setu, the state’s first trumpet bridge.
Shree Setu is one of the dream projects of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The bow-shaped bridge is connected by 4 lanes of road, while a road is being constructed from Mangala Ghat Bypass to Farmers Market. Shree Setu will be built in two phases.
The first bridge is over the Mangalaghat-Birharekrishnapur bypass while another is over the Mangalaghat-Devighat road. The state government spent at least 161 crore and 43 lakh rupees for the construction of this two-and-a-half kilometer Shree Setu. At least 1700 vehicles will be parked in Jagannath Ballav on a land of 47 acres.
Puri Sub-collector Bhabataran Sahu said, “Shree Setu is designed for traffic management and for the convenience of devotees. A four-lane road has been made for large number of devotees from the country and abroad, who will come to the inauguration of the Srimandir Parikrama project. Efforts are on to ensure a good experience for tourists.”
A gate is built to welcome the devotees entering Puri through Shree Setu and a View Tower is being constructed where tourists can get a glimpse of the entire city. Tourist from across the world can catch a sight of beautiful temples in the city along with a memorable selfie.
“It is a matter of pride for all. The district administration is taking all the steps for the smooth conduct of mega-events. Shree Setu is like an international standard. We are very happy.” said Manoj Rath.
For the convenience of the tourists, the state government will construct an elevator to visit the View Tower. The surroundings of the tower will include activities like boating, cafeteria, and parking among others. All these activities have been arranged on a land of 18 acres. This Shree Setu has been specially constructed to relieve travellers from long traffic snarls.
