Noida: The Delhi Metro is in trouble again.

Cracks have been seen on two more pillars at an under-construction line in Noida even as the report of the fatal Zamrudpur Metro collapse is due this week.

The cracks in Noida were noticed by consultants appointed by DMRC after the Zamrudpur incident where a concrete girder collapsed when resting on a pier with cracks.

The Noida piers were inspected by DMRC managing director E Sreedharan, who has ordered a detailed inspection.

The line is slated to open to the public by the end of August. Sreedharan has said and I quote, “Both the hairline cracks seem to be superficial and related to masonry, which doesn't have a bearing on the strength of the piers. But we are not willing to take any chances now. This is why a more detailed investigation has been ordered into one of the cracks."

What's your reaction?
