KOCHI: The City Shadow Police arrested one person for selling tobacco products in front of Cochin College in Mattanchery. Ramesh (47) of Koovappadam, Mattanchery, was arrested following a joint raid by the shadow police and Mattanchery police. According to the police, he was selling tobacco products to students in front of Cochin College. The police also seized tobacco products worth `4,000. Mattanchery ASI Thomas, Shadow SI Mohammed Nisar, civil police officers Vava, Sudheer Babu, Naseer and Suresh took part in the raid which was carried out based on a tip off received by Special Branch assistant commissioner M N Ramesh.City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar has said that strict action would be taken against those involved in selling tobacco products near school and college premises.
