CHENNAI: The first bench of the Madras High Court has reserved for Friday (October 14) orders on the batch of over 100 writ petitions and a public interest writ petition, seeking various directions to the State Election Commission (SEC) for holding elections to the local bodies. The bench comprising Chief Justice MY Eqbal and Justice TS Sivagnanam reserved the orders after listening to the elaborate arguments advanced by senior advocate P Wilson, advocate S Prabakaran and others on Thursday. The petitions, mostly from the DMK contestants, prayed for appointment of independent observers and videographing of the entire process of polling and counting, besides deployment of CRPF personnel.
