New Delhi: India has agreed for a bilateral cricket series with Pakistan after a long time when the two teams will play three ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals in December and January. The series has generated a lot of interest and several Pakistani fans are expected to arrive in India to watch the matches.
But the Indian government and the BCCI are not willing to take any chances with the Pakistani fans as several of them have been known to stay back illegally even after the expiry of their visas. Keeping this in mind, the government has formulated tough rules for the issue of visas and tickets to Pakistani cricket fans.
Pakistani fans would not be able to to buy tickets for the matches online. Only 500 tickets will be available for Pakistani fans at any particular venue and those who don't have tickets for the match won't be issued visa.
According to the rules all the 500 tickets would not be for a single block and Pakistani fans would be staggered throughout the stadium. The fans from across the border would also have to stay in a BCCI approved hotel and their tickets would be marked PC to identify them. The ticket-holder won't be allowed to visit any other place other than the match venue.
The rules have been framed after the government noticed that several Pakistani fans disappeared after the matches and never returned to their country.
