Srinagar: In a rare instance, passers-by on Tuesday caught a suspected terrorist and handed him over to the police soon after he lobbed a grenade on a vehicle in the heart of the city, officials said.
Ten people - seven from Jammu, two locals and a tourist from West Bengal - were injured in the attack.
The people caught Mohammad Afzal, a resident of Nesbal in Baramulla district, after he allegedly hurled a grenade on the vehicle near the Tourist Reception Centre on Tuesday afternoon, they said.
Afzal was handed over to a police party that was patrolling the area.
He was later taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation, the officials said.
At least eight persons were killed and 37 injured in a string of grenade attacks in the heart of Srinagar on Tuesday.
