Pervez address on Indo-Pak talks
Musharraf is expected to speak on the postponement of foreign secretary-level talks in the wake of 7/11 blasts.

Islamabad: Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf will address the nation on Thursday on the state-run television and radio during which he is expected to touch upon the issue of postponement of foreign secretary-level talks with India in the wake of the Mumbai train blasts.

The address, which is scheduled at 2030 hrs (IST), will focus on his plans and programmes in the run-up to the general elections in Pakistan in November next year, PTV said.

Gen Musharraf had on Tuesday addressed the military-dominated National Security Council during which he had discussed at length his plans to curb sectarianism and extremism and speed up economic development.

Official sources said Gen Musharraf would address the nation on the peace process with India. Information Minister Mohammad Ali Durrani did not indicate the contents of the address, but the sources said Gen Musharraf is expected to urge India against stalling the peace process, following the postponement the meeting.

"President Musharraf is likely to talk about the regional and national situation, the fight against terrorism and the country's economic progress," one government source said.
