BARGARH: Notwithstanding the numerous health schemes being implemented throughout the year, health services in areas bordering Chhattisgarh are in a comatose state.With no signs of doctors, the pharmacists are attending to the patients here. Though plans were made to rope in retired doctors to fill up the vacancies, no measure has been taken yet.The district has 12 CHCs and 48 additional PHCs. The eight PHCs are without doctors whereas guidelines call for at least one doctor in each PHC. These PHCs are in Saipali, Kumelsingha, Lakhmara, Ambhabona, Jamset, Sardapali, Kermeli and Mandosil. Except Kumelsingha in Attabira block and Ambhabona, all are in Maoist-infested Padampur sub-division. Informing that 30 doctor posts are lying vacant against sanctioned strength of 135 in the district, CDMO Umesh Chandra Tripathy said every effort was being made to fill up the vacant posts. Many of the doctors have left for pursuing post graduation.The CDMO, however, said pharmacists are capable of providing treatment.
