KOCHI: The Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry has requested lorry owners to withdraw their strike. The All-India Motor Transport Congress started indefinite strike from Wednesday midnight in protest against the diesel price hike and increase in toll collection. The KCCI said that it could adversely affect the export-import and the domestic cargo movement to Kerala. Although major goods as well as container transport associations are not taking part in the strike, the transport associations in the neighboring states have pledged their support to the strike."There is increased goods and transport movement in the state in the wake of Ramzan and Onam. Strike would jeopardise the smooth movement of goods and export-import containers in and out of the state,” the Chamber said. The KCCI has requested the All-India Motor Transport Congress and the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to resolve the issue through discussions and dialogues.
