HYDERABAD: Warning of strict action against ragging, city police on Friday said they would open history-sheets against those who rag juniors and also asked college managements to ensure such incidents do not take place.City police commissioner AK Khan warned students of stringent action if they resort to ragging.“The menace is rampant in engineering and medical colleges and usually starts during November-December after the freshers' day,” he said.Students from rural backgrounds and those having studied Telugu medium are being the most targeted, Khan added.“Whoever rags a junior is punishable and they can be imprisoned for six months to 10 years. They would be dismissed from college with remarks of student involvement in ragging,” Khan said adding a history- sheet would be opened against them by police.
