BANGALORE: The city police failed to arrest and produce V Krishna Bhat, chairman of Vishwa Bharati House Building Cooperative Society Limited (VBHBCSL) in the High Court on Thursday. The court told them to produce him on August 29.The court had issued a non-bailable warrant on August 19 against Bhat and directed the city police to arrest and produce him on August 25.Bhat is facing charges of allotting sites violating rules and regulations through the society between 1985 to 2009.Bangalore South DCP Sonia Narang submitted a report stating that they could not find Bhat even after enquiring his sons Parthasarathy, Vishwanath, daughterin- law Rekha, daughter Tara Sundaresh, his drivers and close relatives.Bhat was at Woodlands Hotel in the city when the court issued the non-bailable warrant against him.Later, he had gone to Delhi and was admitted in Indraprastha Apollo Hospital (IPH) on August 22 and later discharged to get admitted in a Bangalore hospital but he was not admitted, the police report said.The police referred the IPH report that the accused is suffering from stroke and other diseases.The division bench comprising Justice N Kumar and Justice Ravi Malimath, very unhappy with the police report, “The accused was at Woodlands Hotel when the non-bailable warrant was issued.It is just very much near the court and you failed to arrest him.” “He is an 82-year-old senior citizen.He filed many PILs and he can’t show disrespect to the court orders.It will send wrong messages.He knows how to avoid proceedings.According the medical report, his treatment concludes on August 27.So produce him on August 29,” the court told the police.
