BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered an inquiry by a tahsildar into the issue of Y N Hoskote Gram Panchayat chairperson T Sujatha obtaining a Backward Caste community certificate allegedly by furnishing false information.Hearing a petition filed by Malurappa and others, Justice B S Patil directed tahsildar Pavagada to conduct an inquiry into the issue within three months.The petitioners had moved the HC seeking a stay on the election of Sujatha as chairperson of Y N Hoskote GP in Pavagada taluk.According to the petitioners, Sujatha had obtained the Backward Community caste certificate by stating that she had got a divorce from her husband, and her father D C Thippeswamy was not a land-holder.The petitioners further said her first application dated February 17, 2011, seeking a Backward Community certificate was rejected by the tahsildar after the village accountant submitted a report that Sujatha’s husband is a government servant, and he owned over 50 acres of land.On March 4, Sujatha applied for the certificate again stating that she was a divorcee and there was no property in her name or her father’s name, they said, and added that her father actually owned 20 acres of land.The petitioners had sought a stay on the elections scheduled for March 22. However, the HC on March 21 had refused to stay the elction.On Friday, Justice B S Patil ordered an inquiry into the issue.
