Probe ordered against George Mercier

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge (Vigilance) here on Friday ordered a Vigilance investigation against Congress leader and former MLA George Mercier. The probe was ordered on a plea filed by social activist A Sirajudeen of Pachalloor here.  In the petition, Sirajudeen alleged that George Mercier had amassed wealth worth over Rs 5 crore through illicit means during his tenure as MLA, which includes a beach resort and several multi-storey houses.
