KOCHI : ‘Niravu’, a government project aimed at enhancing agricultural sector in Paravur, is all set for the launch. The project, estimated at a cost of `36 crore, will be implemented through the  agriculture department and Kudumbashree. V D Satheeshan MLA’s dream project ‘Niravu’ will be implemented through various agricultural promotional projects along with the different departments.  “In this mega-project, 33 related areas are to be focused,” said Satheeshan, who is also the chairman of the project’s implementing committee. All the departments under the Ministry of Agriculture and the local body members will be part of the implementing committee. “Each project will be implemented in the areas where the project is found suitable,” he said. “The project aims at the comprehensive agricultural development of Paravur constituency and also assuring food security,” he said. “Seed to marketing” facilities will be arranged as per the project. “We have categorized each local body and each area with certain cultivation like banana, tapioca and yam. Also, meat production and fisheries are part of the project,” said Satheesan. People will be given assistance to receive maximum benefit from the project. Also, adequate loans will be provided,” he said. The project will be implemented in multiple phases stretching up to a year and after the completion of the each phase, the success of the project will be analysed. The project is to be implemented by the constitution’s implementing  committee the comprises members from district departments’ head officers, Municipal chairman, block panchayat president, panchayat presidents. Principle Agriculture officer Asha Devi Varma will be the convener of the project. He said that all the products would be sold though specially established ‘Public Markets’ without the intervention of a third party. The project also envisages converting the unsuitable lands to suitable ones so that cultivation could be increased, he added.The project which will be implemented during this fiscal is expected to get a benefit of `75 crore . “In the last meeting, we finalized the projects that are to be implemented and a high level meeting will be held on Wednesday at Thiruvananthapuram with agricultural minister to get the final nod,” he said.
