BANGALORE: In a big breakthrough, the Subramanyapura Police busted a transnational prostitution racket by arresting two persons on Wednesday who were involved in luring young Muslim women into prostitution by promising them jobs in foreign countries. The two arrested are K P Saleh alias Salehakunni alias Koya Saleh bin Kunnikoy (59), a native of Kerala and Nafisabanu Kom Nisar Ahmed (38), who hails from Mumbai. Police investigation revealed that Saleh was a Mumbai-based passport agent, who had allies in Bangalore, Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.With the help of his allies, Saleh lured poor young Muslim women by promising them jobs in countries such as Dubai and Muscat. Once the victims landed abroad, Saleh’s aides Shariff and Kumari would sell them off to pimps and divide the money amongst themselves. Investigations also revealed that Nafisabanu followed a similar modus operandi in luring her victims into prostitution via international airports. In 2009, Nasrat Salma (names changed) a resident of J P Nagar, was forced into a prostitution racket in Muscat. A case was registered in Subramanyapura Police station. In a separate case, Bidadi-based Reshmabegum was also lured into prostitution in Muscat.
