THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As a follow-up to the investigation into the fake document racket which was busted in the city on Tuesday, the Vanchiyoor police on Wednesday conducted a raid on a house in Beemapally, suspected to be from where the fake documents were made. During the raid, police recovered fake version of receipts usually issued from village offices, fake documents including title deeds and items needed to create fake ID cards. Vanchiyoor police officials said that the house belonged to a third suspect in the case. “The seized items indicates the involvement of more people in the racket,” the police said. On Tuesday, two persons, Gopakumar of Vattiyoorkavu and Sudheesh Kumar of Manacaud were arrested by the police in connection with the racket. They were suspected of fabricating documents to secure bail for individuals involved in financial cases. Police said that the gang operated near the Vanchiyoor court and are believed to be accomplices in fabricating documents to bail out Sabarinath, arrested in the Total 4U case. Police had also launched investigation into whether the fake documents were used by individuals for various purposes. It had been found that the racket was involved in bailing out a father and a son, who were jailed in a fake currency case. The racket was busted when the court raised doubts about the genuineness of some of the documents submitted in a case and asked the police to conduct an investigation. The Vanchiyoor police which carried out the investigation had found that doubts raised were true. The two arrested had been remanded till Feb 13.
