TINDIVANAM: Srinivasan, brother of PMK founder S Ramadoss,  and another party cadre N M Karunanidhi were arrested by the CBI on Wednesday in connection with the 2006 murder of minister C Ve Shanmugam’s associate.During 2006 State Assembly election, Shanmugam of AIADMK and Karunanidhi of PMK were contesting from Tindivanam constituency. On the night of polling day (May 8, 2006), a gang entered Shanmugam’s house and tried to kill him. While he escaped, another AIADMK member and minister’s associate Muruganandham got injured and later succumbed to his injuries.Shanmugam lodged a police complaint against 15 persons, including S Ramadoss, Anbumani Ramadoss, Srinivasan, Parasuraman, Karunanidhi and Ragu with the Roshanai police station. Later, Ramadoss and Anbumani’s names were removed from the case. In October last year, Shanmugam moved the Madras High Court seeking CBI investigation in to the case. The CBI began its investigation last month and earlier this month; eight persons, Kumaran, Gopi, Senthil of Maruthur near Villupuram, Paneerselvam of Sendoor, Andhakumar, Natarajan, Jayaraj and Elancheziyan of Koothamedu village were arrested. All of them were produced before the Chengalpattu Judicial Magistrate and lodged in Puzhal jail. Later, CBI took custody of them for investigation.Following this, on Wednesday, Srinivasan and Karunanidhi were arrested by the CBI and produced in the same court. Both of them had been sent to Puzhal jail for 15 days by the court.
