Madrid: Real Madrid star Raul resumed team training on Monday, in the next stage of recuperation from a ruptured meniscus and a partial knee ligament rupture suffered against Barcelona in November.
Raul, Spain's national skipper who is also desperate to regain full fitness for the World Cup, has his heart set on making the Champions League last 16 return on March 8 against Arsenal, according to Spanish media.
The February 21 first leg against the Gunners looks to be too early for the all time Champions League top scorer but As and Marca sports dailies said the 92-capped striker was set to make the team sheet for the return leg.
Medical experts had initially warned that Raul, who is also Spain's all-time record scorer with 42 goals, could miss six months' action and even the World Cup.
