CHENNAI: With a view to recognising outstanding service in Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Prison Service, Home Guards and Fingerprint Science personnel, the state government, on Wednesday, announced the Chief Minister’s Medals on the occasion of Dr Anna’s birth anniversary on September 15.A press release said that this year 100 police personnel, 10 Fire and Rescue Service personnel, 10 Prison Service personnel, 5 Home Guards personnel and also in Police Fingerprint Science one Additional Superintendent of Police and one Deputy Superintendent of Police have been selected for the Chief Minister’s Medal.The recipients of the above medal are eligible for a lump sum grant according to the ranks as specified in the Medal Rules. The Chief Minister also ordered to enhance the above amount by two times from this year.Further, the medal Chief Minister’s Gallantry Medal will be awarded to 16 Fire and Rescue Service personnel and posthumously to one Sub-Inspector of Police. The recipients of the medal will be paid monthly medal allowance as specified in the Medal Rules.
