BERHAMPUR: A sum of Rs 900 crore, including Rs 300 crore released by the Finance Commission, would be spent for uplift of farmers in the State. This was announced by Revenue Minister Suryanarayan Patra who was here to lay a foundation stone for construction of a conference hall and two suites in the special circuit house here on Sunday.He told newsmen that all possible measures had been taken to compensate the farmers who sustained crop loss during December last.He said farmers, including share-cropper, will get an ex gratia for crop loss following recommendation of the village committee. The Minister added that all the MLAs are regularly distributing ex gratia in their respective areas for crop loss and the process would be completed soon. He later distributed cheques for agricultural input subsidy to farmers.
