Los Angeles: Sacha Baron Cohen has won his battle with the Academy to attend the mega award function dressed as the character from his upcoming film 'Dictator'.
The 40-year-old actor was earlier banned from attending the red carpet event in the dictactor regalia as the Academy did not want the award ceremony to become a publicity event for the actor's upcoming film.
The Academy finally changed its stance and allowed the actor to walk the red carpet as his alter ego Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen. Cohen, who had released a spoof video warning the Academy of "unimaginable consequences" if he was banned from the Oscar red carpet, announced his victory on Twitter.
"Victory!" Just hours earlier, Oscar producer Brian Grazer told Extra: "We're thrilled to have him and he'll be on the red carpet dressed as The Dictator," Cohen tweeted. Cohen dressed up as the military leader to show his Oscar tickets in one hand and a golden gun in another.
