Srinagar: The Sahara Force India Formula One team started the 'Raise The Flag' campaign in Srinagar on Wednesday, as part of its nine-city signature campaign to garner support ahead of the first Indian Grand Prix, to be held in New Delhi later this month.
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah flagged off the campaign and expressed hope that the team will do well in the forthcoming race.
"This is the only Formula One team which carries the colours and name of the country. We wish you all the best and we hope you bring laurels to the team and the country," Omar said after flagging off the campaign on the banks of Dal Lake.
Sahara India Pariwar bought 42.5 percent stake in Force India, investing approximately USD 100 million in the team.
Team principal and managing director Vijay Mallya retains an equal 42.5 percent share in the team.
The first ever Grand Prix in the country will be held in New Delhi on October 30.
