Steel Authority of India (SAIL) chairman Chandreshwar Verma on Sunday said the public sector's difficult days were over and it was on the path of growth.
"The difficult days have ended for SAIL, whose future is bright," Verma said, adding the steel company has embarked upon an expansion project worth Rs 72 crore.
The company's present production capacity was 17.5 MT and by 2025 its capacity would increase up to 50 million tonne, he told reporters. Touching upon Bokaro Steel Plant's current capacity of 5.77 million tonne, he said by 2025 it would go up to 16 MT and the investment for this would be Rs 50,000 crore.
Stating that land was an important factor in the development of the steel industry, Verma said Bokaro, capacity-wise, was the best place in the country and there would not be any hurdle in its expansion, which was progressing well.
