Mumbai: Naeem Khan, an aide of extradited gangster Abu Salem, was arrested by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai Police on Monday.
He was arrested at Sahar airport for questioning in the Pradeep Jain murder case on returning from Dubai.
Naeem, an aide of Abu Salem, used to run the extortion business on behalf of Salem from Dubai. In the Pradeep Jain murder, it is alleged that Naeem had allegedly acted as a mediator for Salem, main accused in the case.
He has been living in Dubai for several years, and told a local newspaper from Dubai that he had no role in the Jain murder case and said he will visit Mumbai on Monday to present himself before police.
Pradeep Jain, a builder from suburban Andheri, was shot dead in 1995, after he reportedly refused to give in to Salem's pressure tactiics.
Salem wanted Jain to sell a piece of land to another builder at a nominal rate.
