New Delhi: Samsung is also embracing the metal frame, quite like its biggest competitors - Apple and China's Xiaomi. The latest in the line of its innumerable Galaxy devices is the 4.7-inch Galaxy Alpha that comes enclosed within a metal frame and its 6.7mm profile makes it the South Korean electronics giant's thinnest Android phone (Samsung's Galaxy S5 measures 8.1mm in thickness).
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha's 4.7" HD Super AMOLED display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and it is powered by a octa-core (quad 1.8ghz + quad 1.3GHz) or quad-core 2.5GHz processor. Running on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat), the Galaxy Alpha has a 12 megapixel rear camera along with a 2.1 megapixel front camera.
The phone that will go on sale from September (though Samsung hasn't yet specified the markets), also includes a fingerprint scanner. The removable back cover has a tactile pattern.
With 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory the Galaxy Alpha doesn't have a microSD slot and another disappointment could be the 1,860 mAh battery.
The phone will be available in Charcoal Black, Dazzling White, Frosted Gold, Sleek Silver, and Scuba Blue colour options.
