New Delhi: Tennis star Sania Mirza has appeared on the front cover of a BJP magazine launched by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Her picture appeared alongside late Indian-born US astronaut Kalpana Chawla, Rani Laxmibai and athlete P T Usha on the front cover of Smarth, a publication of BJP's Mahila Morcha.
In September last year, Mirza came under attack from some Muslim clerics over what she wears on court.
She was accused of wearing an "indecent dress" and being a "corrupting influence on young women".
The 19-year-old player, however, then refused to be drawn into the controversy saying: "every word I speak, every skirt I wear is discussed and analysed. I have to take all this in my stride."
