New Delhi: Sania Mirza's steady decline continues in the WTA Singles rankings and the Indian slipped two rungs in the ladder to the 69th spot, while Davis Cupper Leander Paes returned to the top 10.
Sania has had an average second season so far and the same was reflected in her rankings, which saw the Hyderabadi being pushed down to the 69th spot with 382 ranking points against her name.
Among her compatriots, fellow Fed Cupper Shikha Uberoi (129.75), who fell just one step short of qualifying for the main draw at the Bell Challenge in Quebec City, moved 10 places up to 205.
Shikha and her sister Neha had stunned the top seeds in the first round of the doubles event in Quebec before their journey was cut short in the second round.
Among others, Ankita Bhambri (42.50) slipped a notch to 414, Isha Lakhani (39.50) slid 41 places to 433, while seasoned campaigner Rushmi Chakravarthi (33.25) lost seven places to finish at 468.
In men's doubles, Davis Cup captain Leander Paes (3190) moved up one place to crawl back into the top 10, while his estranged partner Mahesh Bhupathi, who recently changed his mind and agreed to play for the country in the Doha Asian Games, remains static at 31.
