Madhya Pradesh Congress Vice-President Manak Agarwal on Tuesday alleged that the party MLA, Sanjay Pathak had defected to BJP only "to protect his business interests".
"He left Congress and joined BJP just to protect his business interests. There is no other reason behind Pathak's defection to the BJP," Agarwal told PTI.
"It is a known fact that Pathak is a mining baron who used money power to win assembly elections in November last year," the Congress leader alleged.
He said that Pathak's leaving the Congress would not affect the party. When asked, Pathak denied the charges levelled by Agarwal against him.
"I left the Congress only because it no longer remained the outfit with whom people like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru were once associated," he said.
