Satellite study of Mullaperiyar area needed

KOCHI:  The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will inform the Kerala High Court about the need for a satellite-based study of the topography of the Mullaperiyar area to face any eventuality arising out of a dam burst. A submission in this regard will be filed in the cout in the next posting date, NDRF sources said.“To have a better understanding of the flow of water in case of a disaster, it will be necessary for the authorities to conduct a satellite-based study of the topography of the area,” sources said. The Central Government had constituted the NDRF to act in times of disasters- both natural and man-made. The NDRF had announced that it will take the lead in rescue operations in case the dam breaks.
