New york: Two of Tinseltown's brightest young stars, Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson, bare all in the latest Vanity Fair, posing nude for the cover of the glossy magazine's annual Hollywood issue.
The two actresses were talked into the photo shoot by fashion designer Tom Ford, the former Gucci creative director, who also features - fully clothed - in the racy cover photo, nuzzling Knightley's neck.
Shot by Vanity Fair's renowned celebrity photographer Annie Liebowitz, the cover image carefully positions the two naked stars to avoid any over-exposure with Johansson, 21, lying on her stomach in front of a sitting Knightley, 20.
The nude theme was chosen by Ford, who was brought in as a one-off artistic director for the Hollywood issue after he told the magazine's editor Graydon Carter that the traditional annual portfolio of Oscar hopefuls and movie industry shakers was "getting a bit tired."
A video on the magazine's website, www.vanityfair.com, shows Knightley and Johansson pacing around rather nervously in bathrobes prior to the shoot which was conducted in a closed studio.
"I wanted to put up a 'Do Not Disturb' sign because I was so embarrassed about anyone going in," said Knightley, who has been nominated for a best actress Oscar at the Academy Awards next month for her leading role in Pride and Prejudice.
"We know each other very intimately now," Lost in Translation star Johansson shoot joked after the shoot.
