HYDERABAD: After a futile search for five days, the municipal authorities and police are likely to call off the rescue operation for the three women who went missing in the Jawahar Nagar dumping yard when they went to collect recyclable plastic. On November 21, the three women from Yellareddyguda in Kushaiguda _ Shantamma, Andalu and Ankamma _ went to the dump yard to collect waste plastic. As they did not return, a massive search was launched for them two days later with proclains digging out mounds of garbage in the vast dump yard to retrieve the bodies but their efforts went in vain. "No one saw them get buried alive under the heaps of garbage.
Even as proclains are digging, garbage heaps are sliding down from the top and making the search difficult,' a police official said. The authorities are losing hope as in a similar incident a year ago three boys had come under the sliding garbage and security guard noticed the place where the boys were trapped. Even after a massive search for days, the bodies of the children could not be traced.
