KOCHI: Mayusha, the second accused in the Rs 4.5 crore financial fraud case, surrendered before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday.Later, She was remanded in judicial custody.The police will seek the custody of the accused on Friday.The Palarivattom police had arrested K P Praveen, Mayusha’s husband and the first accused, on May 6.The prosecution submitted that the accused had allegedly cheated more than a hundred persons by guaranteeing the doubling of their investments. “Mayusha and Praveen targeted the rich women who came to her beauty parlour. They used to collect gold ornaments and money from people by promising to double their investment within a few months,” the police said.According to the police, the accused have been operating for the past three years and have cheated people from Mattancherry, Thammanam and Palluruthy. There were more than 50 complaints against the couple, out of which two cases were registered.The police have frozen 1.5 kg gold pledged in various private banks by the duo.The couple had been absconding for the past one month.“The case is of a serious nature with certain persons having invested up to Rs 21 lakh. Many  who invested in the company are reluctant to come forward,” the police said.
