PUDUCHERRY: T P R Selvam, yet another overlooked Congressman who was elected MLA from an AINRC ticket, dreams of improving educational facilities in his constituency of Mannadipet, specifically in the form of a satellite town (Thunai Nagaram) exclusively for educational institutions and a modern hospital.Coming from a traditional Congress family, Selvam laments that not a single college exists in the area and believes that one of the dried out lakes  there could be acquired for the purpose. He plans to suggest the establishing of a hospital with modern facilities and recreation facilities for the youth in the tiny (because of space constraints in the union territory, more land cannot be acquired) satellite town.Selvam grew up watching his father Rajaram Counder work for the Congress and even contest elections in 1977. Selvam too worked for the party even serving as youth Congress secretary. He had filed his nomination papers in the last three elections, but was forced to withdraw either following coalition compulsions or in order to make way for prominent candidates.Fed up, he finally joined the AINRC and defeated PMK’s KPK Arulmurugan by a comfortable margin.
