Seven members of a family, including four children, were killed and a girl injured when a car collided with a truck in Izzatnagar area in Bareilly, police said on Monday.
The accident took place on Sunday night when the victims were returning after meeting their relatives in Pilibhit, SP (city) Rajiv Malhotra said.
Pradeep Yadav (35), Pankaj (20), Surja Devi (35), Sumit (10), Krishna (3) and Akhilesh (5) were killed on the spot.
Another boy Shivang (8) died while being taken to the hospital, he said, adding that a girl Micky (10) was seriously injured in the accident and was admitted to a private hospital.
One person sitting in the truck identified as Madan was nabbed from the spot by the people sitting in a nearby roadside eatery, police said.
